This Week on the Farm (C5, 8pm)
Helen Skelton and Jules Hudson present the final episode in the show in which farmers document their day-to-day lives. A vet comes to Cannon Hall farm to determine if Jeremy the bull has impregnated any cows while Rob and Dave try their hands at making a traditional Yorkshire tipple.
Joanna Lumley’s Unseen Adventures (STV, 9pm)
The actress introduces more unseen footage from her travelogue programmes, this time focusing on her journeys to Uzbekistan and India. In this episode, she travels the length of the subcontinent, including footage of her encounters with the flower-sellers of Madurai, before taking us back to Uzbekistan, where she reveals some gory tales of the country’s history and discovers the secrets of gem-making.
Cuba: Castro vs The World (BBC2, 9pm)
This new two-part documentary considers the Cuban prime minister’s early years and his commitment to armed revolution, and examines how Castro’s Cuba came to act like a superpower on the world stage. Testimonials from former Soviet and Cuban ministers give a glimpse into how the United States’ success in the Cuban Missile Crisis strained the relationship between the allies. With the aid of archive footage, the strand also explores Che Guevara, Castro’s right-hand man, via the spies and comrades who fought alongside him.
The Talk (C4, 10pm)
In this one-off documentary, well known black Britons discuss the conversation that parents and guardians of black and mixed-raced kids feel they must have because of the racism their children will face as they grow up. The talk explains why folks outside their home might see them as different; it arms them for what they might face at school and work, and if they come into contact with the police.
Emeli Sande, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Lennie James, Maro Itoje, Ade Adepitan, Tinie Tempah and other stars share their childhood experiences of the talk, and how it prepared them for the challenges they faced on the path to success. Now, those who are parents and guardians themselves must reflect on what kind of talk they must give their children.
