ANNE Thomson says in her letter that “the Chief Constable of Police Scotland has said that he has insufficient officers to prevent leisure travel across the Scottish Border”.

If this is the case, that would be quite a remarkable statement given the Chief Constable has previously committed to sending 300 police officers to help police the border between Ireland and Northern Ireland after the Brexit transition period ends.

Why can’t those 300 police officers be used, at least in the meantime, to police our border to protect Scots from the spread of a highly infectious lethal virus?

And why is our nominally “Scottish nationalist” government happy to have our police co-opted into the British security forces in Northern Ireland, at London’s bidding, but won’t police our border with England – a move that that would be highly disapproved of in London?
