A FURTHER 22 hospital patients who had tested positive for coronavirus have died, the latest Scottish Government figures show.

Statistics released today show 2353 patients who were confirmed to have had the virus had died - up from 2331 yesterday.

A total of 15,382 people have now had a positive test for Covid-19, an increase of 55 on the previous day's total.

Meanwhile, 1114 people are in hospital with either confirmed or suspected Covid-19, a decrease of 102 from Friday's figure of 1216

This includes 25 people in intensive care who have tested positive, and a further eight ICU patients suspected of having coronavirus - with that total of 33 being down by seven from the previous day.

The statistics, published by the Scottish Government, showed Greater Glasgow and Clyde continues to have the largest number of cases, with 3943 people having tested positive for Covid-19, and 343 people in hospital - including nine confirmed or suspected cases in intensive care.

The Lothian area also has nine confirmed or suspected Covid-19 patients in ICU, with 155 confirmed cases in hospital there - the second highest total in the country.

There are 735 people in hospital in Scotland who have tested positive for the disease.

But since March 5, a total of 3678 patients confirmed with coronavirus have been discharged from hospital.
