MICHAEL Russell has called for Dominic Cummings to be sacked for breaking lockdown rules.

Boris Johnson's top aide was spotted by witnesses at his parents’ home in Durham 250 miles away from his house in London, according to a joint investigation with The Mirror and The Guardian.

Russell, Scotland's Constitutional Relations Secretary, said Cummings "must go" over the issue, in the same way Catherine Calderwood, Scotland's chief medical officer, resigned.

Sharing The National's article, he tweeted: "Catherine Calderwood had to resign and that leaves no doubt that Cummings must go too....."

Cummings started suffering from Covid-19 at the end of March which left him self-isolating with his wife and son for two weeks.

Downing Street claimed he was in quarantine in his London home.

Police confirmed they had visited someone at a home in London who they found out had travelled to Durham to self-isolate when the UK was in lockdown.

They said they reminded the family that travelling to stay with relatives was breaking the rules.

Cummings joins former Tory MP Patrick Mercer who made a 500 mile trip to Skye during lockdown.
