HEALTH Secretary Matt Hancock receiving a telling off from the House of Commons Speaker at PMQs this afternoon when he heckled the Labour leader.
As Keir Starmer asked the Prime Minister about when the much anticipated test and trace scheme will be up and running by, Hancock spoke over him.
Usually articulate Starmer fumbled over his words as he tried to be heard in the Chamber.
But Speaker Lindsay Hoyle stepped in to allow Starmer to be heard above the noise. He said: “Order, order, order. Secretary of State for Health, please. I don’t mind you advising the Prime Minister but you don’t need to advise the opposition during this.”
It then appears Hancock tries to talk back. In an angrier tone, Hoyle told him: “Sorry, do you want to leave the Chamber? We’re at maximum numbers. If you want to make way for someone else I’m more than happy.”
Starmer then continued his questioning of Johnson’s handling of the coronavirus crisis.
Currently just 50 MPs are allowed in the Chamber as social distancing measures see representatives submit their questions via digital link.
Earlier it had been rumoured the Prime Minister would miss PMQs after two weeks of struggle against direct questioning from Starmer.
Without the packed Tory benches and loud cheering from his MPs during the weekly session, many have noted Johnson had struggled.
