SCOTTISH Green MSP Andy Wightman will seek to improve emergency coronavirus laws today by proposing changes to protect those who rent their home.

Wightman will seek to introduce a two-year rent freeze to provide tenants with some security and to ensure that no tenant can be evicted at any time as a result of rent arrears accrued during the national crisis.

He said: “Housing is a human right, and access to good housing is a public health issue.

“It’s vital ... the most vulnerable know that the roof over their head is secure.”
