SINGER Amy MacDonald has released a new video – urging Scots businesses to donate protective gear to the NHS.

The Bishopbriggs singer racked up more than 2million YouTube views for her single Woman of the World. Now it's hoped her huge following will help ensure medics have the gear they need during the coronavirus pandemic.

MacDonald made the clip at home in support of MedSupplyDriveUK - Scotland.

In it, she states: "Unfortunately, all that we hear in the news right now is bad and that includes the massive issues that our NHS is having with PPE - personal protective equipment.

"There are so many frontline staff that keep saying they still do not have the protection required to treat Covid-19 patients so MedSupplyDrive - Scotland is a volunteer group of medical staff who are trying to redistribute PPE to our NHS - specifically businesses who might have PPE that they don't require right now.

"Businesses can donate PPE to the service delivery centres/entrances of any of their local healthcare facilities. They need masks, goggles, hazmat or boiler suits, gloves and visors. If you are a business and you have any of this stuff and you can donate it then please do.

"You can donate kit, you can request it and you can volunteer - via their website www.medsupplydrive.org.uk/scotland. Please help if you can."

Scotland is in lockdown. Shops are closing and newspaper sales are falling fast. It’s no exaggeration to say that the future of The National is at stake.
