ANDREW Neil has refused to apologise for spreading false information relating to The National's revelation England was being prioritised over other parts of the UK when it came to the distribution of PPE.
After the story was published on Wednesday, the broadcaster took to Twitter to ask The National to apologise for the story after Scottish Government National Clinical Director Jason Leitch said the claims were untrue.
But embarrassingly, it had already been revealed by the First Minister that Leitch was not fully appraised on the issue when he gave the interview.

Neil was then urged to apologise when Leitch said sorry for describing the PPE claims as "rubbish" and after John Rentoul apologised to the FM for saying the claims were untrue.

Neil said he would only "apologise for being right".
He added: "OK. I’ll apologise. I apologise for being right. Thus exposing those who manufactured a fake grievance for the sake of causing division in these islands — between Scotland and England — at a time when the nation is in crisis and should be united. There. Happy?"

The story was also picked up by The Times and the BBC but we don't see Neil criticising them ...
Scotland is in lockdown. Shops are closing and newspaper sales are falling fast. It’s no exaggeration to say that the future of The National is at stake. Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
