Impact Summit, the UK's leading celebration of purpose-driven business, has moved this year's event online in response to the Covid-19 crisis.

The global pandemic has led to a number of high profile event cancellations and postponements, as measures to stem the spread of the virus have taken effect. However, Impact Summit organisers FutureX have made the decision to move the event - originally scheduled to take place in Glasgow - online, meaning the summit will still go ahead on May 20th this year.

FutureX CEO and co-founder Bruce Walker believes that events like Impact Summit provide a crucial service for entrepreneurs and businesses in a period of economic uncertainty.

"At times like this, it is vitally important that we still come together: to share ideas, knowledge and support - even if we can't do so physically. While people are not able to meet in person, we are doing everything we can to ensure that key conversations still take place and businesses get the help they need."

Walker also believes that online events - still a relatively new concept - are set for massive growth in popularity. With technology offering new ways to connect with millions of people, event organisers around the world are quickly adapting to this new industry landscape.

"Not only can contact-less conferences reach a global audience, but they are also more accessible, better for the environment and inclusive than traditional events. While people will always need to connect and come together physically, it's clear that the future of events is a hybrid of online and offline experiences."

The online event, supported by The Hunter Foundation for the third year running, champions the global movement of companies and organisations putting values at the heart of business.

Sir Tom Hunter says: "We all must do what we can to support communities and people navigate this global health crisis. We are proud to support Impact Summit moving to an online format in 2020 so that the summit can continue to support impactful leaders and entrepreneurs as they build the future.

“Now more than ever, we need entrepreneurial thinking, big, bold ideas and innovative collaboration to tackle the greatest challenges of our time."

Details of the full programme will follow in the coming weeks, including a diverse schedule of online keynotes from ethical business leaders, networking opportunities and a virtual exhibitor marketplace
