A GLASGOW councillor has blamed a hacker in London after soft-core pornography was shared on his Twitter feed.
Bailie Glenn Elder's account posted a picture of a woman in a bikini posing with a dog on Wednesday evening.
It was accompanied by the text: “I really don't know who Ms Genesiz Lopez is or why she should wish to send me a picture on Instagram.
“Having said that, she really does have a beautiful German Shepherd…”
Elder was criticised for posting the image by his former colleague, Councillor Rhiannon Spear.
She tweeted: “This is a councillor in Glasgow City Council and Chair of Planning.
“I'm disgusted and disappointed that this rhetoric is still tolerated in politics.
“Glenn should have resigned as a councillor when he stood down from the SNP.
“This on the same day that I'm encouraging women to come forward to stand in the Scottish Parliament elections next year.
“Politics in Scotland still tolerates this behaviour from men.
“I'm infuriated I have to work in the same building as this man.”

Politics in Scotland still tolerates this behaviour from men.
I'm infuriated I have to work in the same building as this man.
She added that Elder left the SNP “after allegations of inappropriate conduct came to light.”
Spear said that despite that, the councillor was “still in post, still paid out of the public purse.”
“Women still have to work along side him. He should resign.”
Minutes after the criticism, Elder tweeted: “I am not responsible for this tweet”
He then added: "I did not create or upload the tweet that has appeared on this timeline. I also do not have an 'Instagram' account. I think those who genuinely know me will also know that this is not the type of tweet I would post.
"I seldom use twitter and I will now close this account."
Spear was sceptical. "Glenn now claiming his account has been hacked," she tweeted.
"He still has full access to his account and tweets from him and alleged hack are both from Twitter for Android.
"It's not phishing as no link included. Just searched twitter for similar tweets and there's nothing."
According to the Glasgow Times, the Linn councillor later claimed that he had had contacted an “IT technician” who said his account was hacked from an address in London.
He added: “This is currently being investigated.”
The ex-SNP councillor was accused last year of “inappropriate conduct” towards a council employee. The employee raised concerns with a line manager following a conversation with Elder on council premises which left them feeling uncomfortable.
Councilor Elder has been approached for comment.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
