THE coronavirus outbreak could put Holyrood parties' spring conferences at risk, it has emerged.

After the UK LibDems cancelled their York conference, due to be held this weekend, over virus concerns, other parties' events have been called into question.

LibDems said it had chosen to cancel the event “after careful consideration of the latest health advice and risks”.

The Scottish Greens are due to meet in Kirkcaldy on March 28, the Scottish Tories are set to meet in Perth on March 15 and 16, the Scottish LibDems have scheduled their conference for May 22-24 in Peebles, and the SNP have planned a one-day conference in Aviemore on June 13. Scottish Labour are not holding a spring conference but will meet later in the year.

The Scottish Greens have now said their Kirkcaldy event is under review and it was "looking likely" that it would be called off.

And the Scottish LibDems said while their event is also under review, it is still a few months until it is due to take place. The Scottish Tories, too, have said their conference is under review.

A spokesperson for the SNP said: "We will update our members as and when there is a change of plans."
