Mehreen goes kayaking on Strangford Lough to see how the currents of the UK’s largest sea inlet is placing the area at the forefront of renewable energy research. Helen Skelton tests the waters of the North Channel, one of the most dangerous swims in the world, and local comedian Shane Todd visits a bespoke racing-car factory.

Bumps (BBC1, 9.30pm)

THE BBC’s Comedy Playhouse strand, which in the past has given us such much-loved sitcoms as Steptoe and Son, Till Death Do Us Part and Last of the Summer Wine, returns with another one-off that could potentially become a series. Written by Lucy Montgomery and Rhys Thomas, who also take supporting roles, it stars Amanda Redman as divorcee Anita, 62, who starts thinking about having another when she hears about an Indian woman who gave birth in her 70s. Anita already has two adult children.
