What are Labour values?
The Jouker is of the opinion that if anyone should be able to explain that, it would be a former leader of the Labour Party, or better still, a former Labour Prime Minister.
One thing the Jouker knows for sure, however, is that Labour values means never, never, EVER crossing a picket line... so why doesn't Tony Blair know this?
As of today, university staff across the UK have laid down tools in the biggest wave of strikes to ever hit university campuses across Britian. 74 universities are involved, with staff striking for fourteen days for better pension, pay and working conditions.
Enter Blair, who this very morning crossed into the esteemed corridors of King's College London - one of the institutions involved in the strike action - with all the self-awareness of a potato.
Now, you might be wondering why Tony was wandering the halls of King's College in the first place (instead of, for example, a prison cell).
He was there to give a talk about Labour values, of all things.
Labour values. Tony. Labour. Tony. Values. Tony.
Disclaimer: King's College London is operating on a slightly different schedule to most other striking universities, meaning that while they are participating in the strikes, their picket lines won't officially form until next week - but given the sheer scale of the University and College Union strikes, The Jouker doesn't really see any difference when the College itself is slap-bang in the middle of a trade dispute!
The Jouker is of the opinion this could be the most on-brand moment in Blair's history.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
