MUSICIAN and concert promoter Eddie Cairney has announced the line-up for the 700 Concert in Arbroath, an event being held to mark the 700th anniversary of Scotland’s own Declaration of Independence, which was signed and sealed in the town’s ancient abbey.

“It will be a concert like no other,” Cairney told the National. “The concert is to mark 700 years to the day of the signing of the Declaration of Arbroath.

“It’s taking place on April 6 in the Webster Memorial Theatre in Arbroath and has something for everyone including musical theatre, poetry, solo acts, music bands and comedy.”

Top Scottish comedian and winner of the Outstanding Contribution to Scottish Comedy award, Viv Gee will host the concert in her own inimitable style.

Among the other performers will be Alan Bissett, award winning playwright, novelist, performer and “bletherer” who is one of Scotland’s top talents of stage, screen and with the written word.

Music will be provided by The Mad Ferret Band, Graham Brown Band, Amanda Brown, and Eddie Cairney himself.

The premiere of As Long As But 100 Of Us, a short musical about the Declaration, and a showcase of Mike Gibb’s sell out musical Outlander will also feature.

The concert will start at 7.30pm with the doors open at 7pm.

It is part of the Aberbrothock 700 Festival, details of which can be found online at www.aberbrothock700.com
