TWO important organisations in the Yes movement benefitted from the generosity of those who attended the emergency march for independence in Glasgow earlier this month.

A collection by the Scottish Independence Foundation (SIF) will benefit both that organisation and All Under One Banner (AUOB) which organised the march that saw tens of thousands defy atrocious weather.

SIF said: “The Scottish Independence Foundation would like to offer a huge thank you to everyone who made cash donations at the All Under One Banner march on Saturday, January 11 in Glasgow.

“Their plan was to help fund the next march by doing a collection on the day, and sharing two thirds of the collection with AUOB, with the rest being used to help boost their own fund, which helps to finance Scottish independence grassroots projects up and down the country.”

AUOB, which does not fund any political party, will organise seven more events across the country this year.

The next march is planned for Arbroath in April to mark the 700th anniversary of the signing of Scotland’s Declaration of Independence.

There will be further marches in Glasgow, Peebles, Elgin, Kirkcaldy, Stirling, and Edinburgh.

SIF convenor Dr Willie Wilson handed over a cheque for £1575.49 for the total amount of donations raised at the march to AUOB’s chief administrator Carol McNamara and founder Neil Mackay.
