A BIKE ride in Glasgow has been announced as the two-millionth nextbike trip in the UK.

The world’s most extensive bike share provider announced 2019 has been its most successful year with more than 816,000 rentals.

The landmark trip is not the only milestone reached in Glasgow, which also boasts the provider’s 500,000th trip back in 2017. It took three-and-a-half years for the firm to hit its first UK million after it launched back in 2014 and only 13 months hit its second million.

Bosses were delighted to see the two-millionth rental recorded after recently relaunching in Milton Keynes, introducing its first e-bike fleet to the streets of Glasgow, and revealing plans to expand into Penarth next year.
