IT is drawn from the real-life experiences of teenagers from across the country.

And the university experts behind the new 40-page comic hope the publication will help other young people handle grief.

Titled When People Die: Stories from Young People, the comic is the result of a year-long project involving experts from the Dundee and Strathclyde universities.

Workshops were held at Polmont Young Offenders Institution and through the charities Richmond’s Hope and the Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS), with the stories shared leading to “thoughtful” and “nuanced” content aimed at helping young Scots cope with loss.

Project leader Dr Golnar Nabizadeh, of Dundee University, said: “The end result is a comic that everyone who contributed to should be very proud of.

“The insights it contains will hopefully help other young people deal with their grief while the tips for teachers, parents and friends will help them provide the support they want to give.”
