ACROSS the country people are preparing to mark St Andrew’s Day with thousands of specially designed Yes stones.
On the evening of November 29, thousands of Yes stone makers will be going out and planting the creations in their communities.
Iain McGlade of Yes Stones Facebook said: “We’d really love every village, town and city in our beautiful country to have Yes Stones planted within them.
“The hope is that there will be a stone for every 500 people in our land. As an example, this means that Kilmarnock with approximately 46,000 population needs 92 stones to be placed.
“In larger population centres we are organising ourselves into teams. A small town wouldn’t need that level of coordination, so if you’re in Banchory, with just under 8000 population, you’ll only need 16 stones to achieve the desired effect.”
Meanwhile Trossachs and Teith SNP are celebrating St Andrew’s Day on an international basis with representatives from two other countries who share St Andrew as patrons – Russia and Greece.
The Three Nations St Andrew’s Night dinner is being held in MacGregor’s Barn, Ledard Farm in Kinlochard on Friday, November 29.
Guest speakers include SNP depute leader Keith Brown, Vasily Kashtanov, vice-consul of the Russian Federation Consulate in Edinburgh, and Greek Marianna Chatzara from the Olive Fountain Academy in Glasgow.
The menu includes Russian, Scottish and Greek dishes with live traditional music.
