LABOUR’S election launch in Scotland had me somewhat confused, asking the question, is this a Scottish Parliament election or a UK election?

This confusion came about as a result of Scottish Labour leader Richard Leonard MSP hailing Labour’s plans to build 120,000 social rented homes in the next decade, to end homelessness once and for all.

This commitment is very important and very welcome, however it may be important to clarify that housing is devolved to the Scottish Parliament and the Scottish Government has a target of building 35,000 social rented homes in this parliament.

So in launching Scottish Labour’s UK election campaign, it would have done Mr Leonard and Scottish Labour well to have gone on policies that are under the jurisdiction of the UK Parliament considering it is a UK election!
