THE news of Ofcom’s criticisms of the BBC (BBC must stop ‘ignoring’ Scotland as Ofcom report is released, The National, October 25) was very welcome, but I wonder if it will make any difference.

I have been listening to and watching BBC broadcasts for over 70 years. During that time there have been periodic complaints about programme content, schedule changes, salary structure, inaccuracy and editing, but I cannot recall a single occasion on which the BBC admitted to being wrong.

With such a record of infallibility, perhaps the BBC should consider registering as a church rather than a broadcasting organisation.
