THE Yes movement is well aware that a lot of undecided people will need to be convinced to vote for independence in the second referendum, but how do you gain the skills to make the case?

Dundee & Angus Independence Group is holding an event on Wednesday, October 30, at the Boomerang Centre, Kemback Street, Dundee, to help those campaigners who want to get busy campaigning, but are lacking confidence or are unsure of the best way to persuade others over to Yes.

Entitled Objection Handling – persuading the undecided voter, the event runs from 7pm to 8.30pm and features Gus Simpson, who worked with BT for many years in sales management and latterly in their international training and consultancy business.

Simpson set up his own training and consultancy business in 2001, and worked globally delivering sales and management training, including this sort of session, to large corporate customers. He retired in 2015 and now shares his skills, in order to help secure independence.

This event is designed to give campaigners a methodology when they are faced with resistance on the doorstep or on street stalls. It will be part facilitated discussion, part skills practice, but the mood will be light-hearted, so it will be fun as well.

The ticket price includes light refreshments and a copy of Business for Scotland’s Scotland the Brief. Tickets are available on Eventbrite via this link.
