MORE than 300 performers will take part in a sinister circus-themed Halloween festival later this month.

The award-winning Paisley event, due to take place on October 25 and 26, will be led by a Svengali ringleader and choreographed by the internationally acclaimed outdoor performance specialists Cirque Bijou.

There will also be aerial acts, street theatre artists, acrobats and ferocious fire performers, as well as pumpkin carving, arts and crafts activities, movie screenings and ticketed spooky silent disco.

The fun continues with the annual Fireworks display in Paisley town centre on Saturday, November 2, with a dazzling display to the backdrop of the town’s iconic Abbey.

The festivities will continue throughout Renfrewshire in the run-up to Christmas, with a lights switch-on taking place on November 16.

Last year an estimated 34,000 people flocked to Paisley for its Halloween parade, which was Mardi-Gras themed.

The celebrations were held at part of the Scottish Government’s Year of Young People events.

About 500 young people and performers took part in the parade.
