GREEN Party MP Caroline Lucas is calling on leading women politicians, including Nicola Sturgeon, to come together to prevent a “crash-out Brexit”.

Lucas wrote to 10 other female politicians opposed to a No-Deal break with the EU inviting them to form an “emergency cabinet”.

She said the aim would be to secure a Commons vote of no-confidence in Boris Johnson followed by the formation of a government of national unity.

As well as the First Minister, Lucas invited SNP MP Kirsty Blackman and LibDem leader Jo Swinson.

Writing in The Guardian, Lucas explained the rationale: “Why women? Because I believe women have shown they can bring a different perspective to crises, are able to reach out to those they disagree with and cooperate to find solutions.”
