EDINBURGH’S Redford Barracks was a hive of colourful activity yesterday for the first full run-through of the 2019 Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

The theme of this year’s show is “Kaleidoscope” and almost 1200 cast members from all over the world performed their first public rehearsal of this year’s extravaganza.

Performers from the British Army, Nigeria, Trinidad and Tobago, China, Australia and New Zealand went through their paces in front of the Tattoo’s chief executive and producer Brigadier (Retired) David Allfrey and the governor of Edinburgh Castle, Major General Alastair Bruce of Crionaich.

Members of the public were also welcomed, with guests from community organisations near the barracks getting a sneak peek of the show, which is in its 69th year.
