THE Avengers storm a Hydra stronghold to reclaim Loki’s magical staff. Emotionally scarred siblings Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) and Pietro Maximoff (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), who have been subjected to secret Hydra experiments, are unleashed. Wanda infects the mind of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr), convincing the billionaire that he will bring about the deaths of the entire team. Stark secretly plans to harness the magical staff’s power, but unwittingly unleashes the villainous Ultron.
Pointless Celebrities BBC1, 7.35pm
IN recent years the likes of James Acaster, Tom Allen, Joel Dommett and Ellie Taylor have become some of the most ubiquitous funny folks on the box. Expect more hilarity in this edition as they take part in the ever engaging quiz. Alexander Armstrong and his “Pointless friend” Richard Osman welcomes that fantastic four, as well as Marlon Davis, Alex Horne, Isy Suttie and Ava Vidal.
Zone of Champions, STV, 6.45pm
JOHN Thomson and Jessica Knappett take on the guise of presenters Jack Bullman and Nicky Brimble for this new six-part comedy clip show. They will commentate on a range of “sports”, from a horse playing football to pensioners racing on escalators; expect to also see the likes of long-jumping cats and owls performing rhythmic gymnastics. Obviously it’s telly that’s as cheap as chips – the programme uses viral videos, unusual TV moments and oddball archive clips, but the results are often hilarious.
A Fresh Guide to Florence with Fab 5 Freddy, BBC2, 9pm
HIP-HOP pioneer Fred Brathwaite, better known to music fans as Fab 5 Freddy, who was part of a creative revolution during the 1970s and 1980s, goes back in time to the 15th and 16th centuries to examine the multi-racial society that played a part in the Italian Renaissance. With so many Renaissance artists representing black figures of prominence in their work, Freddy aims to bring focus back to the social change at the heart of the art movement and artists who were the cultural disrupters of their time.
Killing Eve, BBC1, 9.15pm
SADLY it’s time for the second series of the espionage thriller to come to a close, but there is good news – a third has already been commissioned, and thank goodness for that because we’ve got the cliffhanger of all cliffhangers at the end of this episode. But back to the beginning, as Villanelle continues her sojourn at creepy Aaron Peel’s Roman retreat. During a search of the apartment she discovers he’s a voyeur, but before acting on it, calls in Eve to get her out of a tight spot. It seems Peel is about to do business with her former handler Raymond, a vicious individual who doesn’t like to be crossed. Typically Eve comes running, but then there’s a final twist.
