THE successful pairing of SNP Westminster leader Ian Blackford and the party’s youngest MP Mhairi Black is preparing for a string of events around the country.

This week Blackford and Black will be speaking at an open public meeting in Paisley, in Black’s constituency, to discuss the UK Government’s disastrous handling of Brexit

Although the event is free, it is ticketed – and tickets have already been snapped up. Event organisers are urging those with tickets to attend, and appealed for ticket-holders unable to attend to return their tickets for resale.

Blackford told The National: “After this event we will be going to as many areas of possible over the coming months.

“We have already visited my own constituency and interest in the events has been phenomenal and we are trying very hard to accommodate the numbers of people who want to come along.

‘‘After Paisley we are visiting Edinburgh on August 29.

“There’s no doubt that people increasingly want to talk about independence as the prospect of a no-deal Brexit looms closer and people are becoming more and more unhappy at Westminster’s treatment of Scotland.’’

The Paisley meeting will take place on Thursday July 25, at 7pm in The Methodist Central Hall on Gauze Street in Paisley.

It comes after Blackford and Black took the SNP roadshow to in Banavie, Fort William last month, in Blackford’s constituency of Ross, Skye and Lochaber.
