IT’S been all sunshine and rainbows in Glasgow today as the city’s Mardi Gla Pride march 2019 left Kelvin Way at 11.30am this morning.
Organised by new group the LGBT Co-operative, in conjunction with Mardi Gla, an estimated 5000 people were expected to make their way towards the rally at George Square. Police have since confirmed an attendance estimate of 7000 marchers.
Marking 50 years since the Stonewall uprising, hordes of groups and sub-groups from the city marched alongside representatives from the likes of Tesco and Morrison’s.
Members of the armed forces marched too with rainbows painted on cheeks as drummers, some in wheelchairs, kept the march’s rhythm.
There was also a sizeable contingent calling for trans-rights, with some chants against “consultations”.
Police said there were no incidents reported as of yet.
SNP MP Stewart McDonald was among those to join the celebration.
