Unnerved at the thought of dusting close to death, she reluctantly makes a deal with him, though her blood runs cold. At the doctor’s surgery, Winston’s doctor delivers a devastating diagnosis about his remaining leg. Elsewhere, Tam tries to con Boabby, but his miserly ways push the barman too far and he finds himself barred from the Clansman. Desperate to find a new watering hole, Tam tries to turn Navid’s shop into his new local. Comedy, starring Ford Kiernan and Greg Hemphill.
Classic Album: The Crickets – The “Chirping” Crickets, BBC4, 9pm
A LOOK at the making of the 1957 album, the debut of American rock and roll band The Crickets, and the only one featuring Buddy Holly to be released during his tragically brief career, which ended with his accidental death two years later, aged just 22. The “Chirping” Crickets survives as the purest testament to Holly’s skill as a singer, pioneering guitar player and not least as a songwriter in an age when few of his peers composed their own material. This documentary celebrates the record’s success and assesses its legacy. Contributors include former band member Jerry Allison, Cliff Richard and writers John Beecher and Frank Blanas.
Gardeners’ World, BBC2, 9pm
MONTY Don and the team focus their attention on the loss of wildflower habitats in the UK and the part that gardeners can play in averting the resulting loss of wildlife.
