SCOTLAND’S largest aqua park is celebrating its first anniversary by doubling in size.

Five-star visitor attraction Foxlake Dundee, the UK’s only city-based aqua park, is expanding its floating obstacle course from 300 sq m to 600 sq m. Sited on the city’s waterfront, the floating playground tests the balance and coordination of up to 24 people at a time as they try to make their way around the wide variety of obstacles without falling in.

In its first year it has welcomed 12,000 visitors, with staff numbers rising from 15 to 20 and five new vacancies to help meet demand.

To celebrate its success and the anniversary, Foxlake is hosting a family fun day on July 7 to raise money for Action for Children.

The event will include free taster “ringo rides”, stand up paddle boarding and yoga paddle boarding, along with discounted wakeboarding taster sessions, pro rider demonstrations and a “Big Air Wakeboard” competition.

Foxlake Dundee director Callum Mark said: “We are delighted to be expanding our aqua park, which has been a huge hit with locals and tourists. Whether visitors come to the fun day to take part in our activities or to watch the pro riders, it’s guaranteed to be a great family fun day out and a fantastic opportunity to raise funds for an incredible charity at the same time.”

Action for Children’s Stuart Laurie said: “We would like to extend a huge thank you to Foxlake Dundee on behalf of all the families, children and young people we support across Dundee and would encourage people to head along on July 7.”
