D-Day 75: The World Remembers, BBC2, 6.30pm

IT was the largest seaborne invasion in history, and signified the beginning of the Allied campaign to liberate north-west Europe from German occupation. Today marks the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings, and here Sophie Raworth introduces highlights of the commemorations. Proceedings began on this side of the Channel with the National Commemorative Event in Portsmouth.

Food Unwrapped: Is Lunch Making Me Fat? C4, 8pm

IN a special edition of the food facts documentary, which lifts the lid on the midday meal, Jimmy Doherty and Kate Quilton explore people’s obsession with the sandwich, and reveal whether wraps or bagels are more fattening than a regular piece. Doherty also jets off to Japan to find out if a sushi lunch is better than all of them. Matt Tebbutt becomes a human guinea pig in an experiment to see what kind of lunches make people sleepy, and Dr Helen Lawal investigates the rise of a worrying lunchtime trend among teenagers – fried chicken.

My Gay Dog and Other Animals, C4, 9pm

THIS documentary sets out to explore same-sex behaviour in animals – which has been reported in more than 1500 species and was even observed by the ancient Greeks and Egyptians. Scientists give their thoughts, including the difficulty of separating so-called “dominance” behaviour from pure sexual interactions, while a commercial sheep breeder reveals how some rams are exclusively homosexual, and no good to his business.

Shopping with Keith Lemon, ITV2, 10pm

LEIGH Francis’s alter-ego is let loose with his own chat show – but one with a difference. Each week the Celebrity Juice host is joined by two famous faces as they take to the streets and hit the shops, talking about their life and career, and plenty of other random topics, along the way. He begins by accompanying Spice Girl Mel B, who is currently performing on the Spice Girls comeback tour, as she does her weekly food shop. Then he spends an afternoon with dapper funnyman Jimmy Carr as he gets fitted out by a London tailor.
