The National:

We've all seen the Better Together tweet that claims the only way to keep Scotland in the EU is to vote No - but now another post may be about to come back and bite the campaign to save the Union.

It's well known by now that the No campaign was writing cheques it couldn't cash, and following Trump's claim that the NHS would be "on the table" during trade negotiations, that continues to be the case.

In a tweet just days before the 2014 independence referendum, Better Together tweeted that "being part of the UK protects the money we have to spend on our NHS."

Does it, aye?

While the UK was rolling out the red carpet for Trump, he was busy claiming that a post-Brexit trade deal between Britain and the US would involve putting the NHS on the table.

He said: “I think everything with a trade deal is on the table.

“When you’re dealing in trade everything is on the table so NHS or anything else, a lot more than that, but everything will be on the table, absolutely.”

To be fair though, we're not convinced Trump actually knew what the NHS is when he made that claim.

He later walked that back a little, but if Trump is consistent in any one area, it's in his inconsistency.

And since Scotland's budget is affected by what England spends on their health services...

We think you see the problem.
