EDEN FESTIVAL

With a capacity of just 9000, peaceable boutique festival Eden began as an area of the Wickerman Festival back in 2002. This Is The Kit, Macka B and The Roots Ragga Band, Flaming Gods, Lau and Auntie Flo are among the live highlights, with DJ sets from Optimo (Espacio) and Irvine Welsh.

OBAN LIVE

Established in 2016 following the success of trad-fusionists Skerryfore’s Decade concert the previous year, this year’s line-up includes Red Hot Chili Pipers, Lucy Spraggan and hugely popular Highlanders Elephant Sessions.

FLYING MOON MUSIC AND ARTS FESTIVAL

Carla J Easton, Heir Of The Cursed, Rosie Bans, riot grrl duo Bratakus and Tamzene (the Highland multi-instrumentalist first signed to Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival’s own label) are among the music acts to feature in the independent summer festival “all about art, access and action”. Spoken word artists Leyla Josephine and Imogen Stirling also feature, as well as stalls from ethical producers and festival partners Scottish Women Inventing Music.

SOUTHERN EXPOSURE

Pictish Trail and Meursault headline the second edition of Southern Exposure, the music festival presented by Summerhall’s highly acclaimed Nothing Ever Happens Here live music programme. Savage Mansion, Callum Easter, Rev Magnetic and SHHE, the enigmatic new project from Su Shaw, also appear, with Bossy Love, Carla J Easton and Be Charlotte, the only returning artist from last year, bringing their colourful pop.

SOLAS FESTIVAL

The all-ages celebration of music and arts “designed to entertain, inspire and challenge” features live music from SAY nominee Kobi Onyame, Solareye and Tinderbox Orchestra and an array of writers, thinkers and activists such as Professor Alison Phipps, Makar Jackie Kay, short-story writer Chris McQueer, former justice secretary Kenny MacAskill and land reform campaigner Alastair McIntosh.

EAST NEUK FESTIVAL

The 15th festival mixes jazz and world music artists with classical from the likes of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Belcea Quartet and a performance featuring works by Steve Reich and Graeme Leak by the Coling Currie Quarter and massed percussionists from the East Neuk.

KELBURN GARDEN PARTY

Celebrating 10 years with the completion of their Graffiti Project, the artful boutique festival mixes live acts such as Gentleman’s Dub Club, Tom McGuire & The Brassholes and the only Scottish festival appearance from jungle pioneer LTJ Bukem with DJ sets from the likes of Optimo’s JD Twitch and dancefloor legends Leftfield. Discover art installations, performances and pop-up parties in their Neverending Glen, an art trail in the historic Kelburn Glen.

TRNSMT

Compacting itself from five days in 2018 to this year’s three days of live music at Glasgow Green, Stormzy and Example headline Friday, Catfish and The Bottlemen and The Hunna Saturday while George Ezra and Circa Waves wrap it up on Sunday. Others appearing across the weekend include Bastille, Jess Glynne, Snow Patrol and Richard Ashcroft.

HEBRIDEAN CELTIC FESTIVAL

Sister Sledge, The Damned and Hawkwind – all solid gold legends in their fields – join the 10th birthday of the eclectic music and arts festival line-up alongside The Wailers, Battles, Skerryvore, John Grant, Blanck Mass and Kathryn Joseph.

Also appearing are Asian Dub Foundation, resilient punk poet John Cooper Clarke, loved Japanese trio Shonen Knife and snooker-playing DJ Steve Davis, who returns after a popular set at last year’s bash.

JUPITER RISING

Mercury nominees The Comet Is Coming join Cate Le Bon and The Vaselines at the adventurous new festival of music and contemporary art, which will also see the Scottish premiere of new work by Steve Warwick and Carlos Maria, a film programme curated by the Scottish Queer International Film Festival, woodland dining, lake swimming, art walks and a variety of artist-led workshops.
