Puppy School, C4, 8pm
WITH four children under four years old, life can be hectic for Ella from Cambridgeshire. And now she has Luna too – a boisterous Labrador puppy who is proving hard to control. Ella sees Luna as a pet that will eventually help her with her anxiety, but she has her work cut out when she first enrols at Puppy School. Meanwhile, teachers Julie and Richard hope their cocker spaniel puppy will fill the empty nest now their sons are leaving home.
The Pompeii Prophecy: Countdown to Devastation, C5, 9pm
IN the year 79 AD, an eruption from Mount Vesuvius, a volcano in Italy, buried the ancient Roman city of Pompeii under a thick carpet of volcanic ash. The dust “poured across the land” like a flood, one witness wrote. It resulted in the deaths of two thousand people, and the city was abandoned for almost as many years. These days, Pompeii provides a window into the lives of the Romans and is a source of outstanding information on the art, customs, trades and everyday life of their civilisation.
Have I Got News for You, BBC1, 9pm
COMEDIAN, actor and writer Richard Ayoade, who made his name as a socially awkward IT technician in the Channel 4 sitcom The IT Crowd, and now best known for his Travel Man series and presenting The Crystal Maze, makes his fourth appearance on the panel show. He will assume the role of guest host, while Pointless co-presenter Richard Osman and comedian Kiri Pritchard-McLean join regular team leaders Ian Hislop and Paul Merton on the programme’s 57th series finale.
The Looming Tower, BBC2, 9.30pm
VINCE continues asking for permission to share Al-Mihdhar’s visa with the FBI, and O’Neill faces an investigation into his handling of classified materials when he loses his briefcase while attending a mandatory retirement seminar in Florida. In Afghanistan, al-Zawahiri recruits Mohamed Atta to lead a hijacking on US soil.
