NICOLA Sturgeon has hit back at Ruth Davidson for saying she shouldn't have been made First Minister without a Holyrood election.
Davidson was responding to the FM's tweet about Theresa May's resignation, which said "it also feels deeply wrong for another Tory to be installed in Number 10 without a General Election".
2. Her departure will not solve the Brexit mess that the Tories have created. Only putting the matter back to the people can do that. Given current circumstances, it also feels deeply wrong for another Tory to be installed in Number 10 without a General Election.

Davidson said: "But, obviously, fine for a First Minister to be 'installed' in Bute House without a Holyrood election. Eh, Nicola?"
Sturgeon responded: "I think current circumstances are somewhat different. But, don’t worry, I fully understand why you fear a General Election. Eh, Ruth?"

It is worth noting that first ministers are only elected with the consent of the Scottish Parliament, unlike prime ministers at Westminster where Scotland's voice is ignored.
Sturgeon took the post after Alex Salmond's resignation in the wake of the independence referendum on November 19 2014. Sturgeon and Davidson battled it out for the role of first minister the next day.
Sturgeon received 66 votes, Davidson received 15 and there were 39 abstentions.
We wonder why Davidson is running scared of a General Election ...
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
