AS the Yes movement develops, it is good to see people and groups coming together to pool experience and cooperate on projects to assist the cause of independence.
The new alliance that calls itself the North East Independence Groups (NEIG) is made up of Aye Aberdeen, Aye Ellon, #Scotref Peterhead, Yes 2 Stonehaven & Mearns, Common Weal Aberdeen, Aye Banffshire Coast, Yes Angus and the Aberdeen & Aberdeenshire Greens.
On June 30 it will host a workshop for independence activists and individuals who wish to reassure the undecided on the merits of independence.

It will take place in the Station Hotel, 78 Guild Street, Aberdeen, AB11 6GN on Sunday June 30 from 1pm to 5pm. Details are on Eventbrite.
The workshop will look at “the power of framing” because, as many Yessers are learning, “it’s not what you say, it’s how you say it”.
NEIG said: “If you are interested in helping out with stalls, canvassing or any other campaigning activities in the upcoming independence campaign then this one is for you.
“Examples of topics covered are reframing essentials, communication techniques and participant action plans.”
There will be a £5 charge, which includes tea or coffee at the break, to cover costs.
NEIG added: “Numbers are limited to 30. There are a limited number of subsidised (free) tickets for those who are out of work and would like to participate.”
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
Callum Baird, Editor of The National
