The National: IAN Blackford’s barnstorming performances in the House of Commons have long won him admirers – and now he has a famous face to add to the list.

Game of Thrones star Miltos Yerolemou broadcast his admiration for the SNP’s Westminster leader after yet another zinger aimed at Theresa May.

The Prime Minister earlier on Thursday met with the 1922 Committee of backbench Tory MPs, ostensibly to discuss her departure from Number 10.

There was little in the way of discernible progress, however, as committee chair Sir Graham Brady said only that the Prime Minister had agreed to set a timetable for the election of her successor as Tory leader.

Picking up on that point, and the Conservative’s lacklustre campaigning for the European Parliament elections, Blackford launched a scathing attack.

“The Tories have given up on governing the country, they’ve given up on campaigning in the European elections and they’ve given up even pretending to support their leader,” the SNP MP said.

“The only thing we’ve learned from today’s latest fudge from the 1922 Committee is that Theresa May is so incompetent that she can’t even resign properly.”

Reacting on Twitter, Yerolemou, who played highly popular character Syrio Forel in Game of Thrones, expressed his support.

“I bloody love @IanBlackfordMP,” he said.

Having been starred alongside the heroes of Westeros on the hit HBO show, Yerolemou knows good leadership when he sees it.

In fairness, May seems to gave picked up a thing or two from GoT herself.

Yerolemou’s character famously teaches his young charge Ayra Stark a mantra to emphasise the importance of defiance in the face of overwhelming odds.

What do we say when the 1922 Committee ask you to resign, Theresa? “Not today”.
