IT’S been a few weeks but now The National Roadshow is heading out on the road again, with the tour recommencing tomorrow night at 7pm.
The venue for the latest roadshow is in Glasgow at Shawlands Bowling Club, 1154 Pollokshaws Rd, Glasgow. Type G41 3QP into your satnav or Google maps and you’ll find it.
National editor Callum Baird and the Wee Ginger Dug, plus his human minder Paul Kavanagh, will be at the club for an evening of independence-themed discussion hosted by the ever-busy Yes Southside group.
There will also be a fundraising raffle/auction and while the event is free to attend, all donations will be gratefully accepted for Yes Southside.
Baird said: “It’s been a while since we last did a roadshow, but we know our readers enjoy them.”
Another editor, though in this case a former one, will be at the centre of a discussion to be hosted by Yes Marchmont and Morningside on Friday night.
Murray Foote, past editor of the Daily Record and the architect of The Vow, is now an enthusiastic convert to the cause of independence.
He will be the main speaker at public meeting on “A Fairer Scotland” on Friday at 7.30pm in the Columcille Centre, 2 Newbattle Terrace, Edinburgh – that’s EH10 4RT for satnav or google map users.
Yes Marchmont and Morningside told the Yes Hub page that entrance is free, no tickets are needed, and they stress it’s an accessible venue, adding: “All welcome – spread the word and bring your friends.”
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
Callum Baird, Editor of The National
