BERRY heads into London’s West End for inspiration, seeking out the secrets of getting busy people fed quickly and well. She learns the art of high-speed wok cooking in Chinatown and samples the sweet treats being made at a patisserie, before seeing a show and having a late-night cocktail with some of the cast. Back in her own kitchen, Mary creates an Asian beef and pepper stir fry, a chocolate cappuccino pie and an easy, speedy breakfast for those on the go.

The Widow, STV, 9pm
AFTER Will Mason apparently died in a plane crash in the Democratic Republic of Congo three years ago, Georgia Wells became a recluse, setting up home in the remote Welsh countryside. However, when she spots Will in the background of a television news report about the Congo, it spurs her into action. That’s the hook that helped lure Kate Beckinsale back to the small screen. And there are also a couple of other big names helping to prop up this ambitious drama filmed in South Africa.

The Victim, BBC1, 9pm
THIS four-part legal thriller is told through the eyes of the plaintiff and the accused. Set within Scotland’s legal system, it stars Kelly Macdonald as Anna Dean. Her nine-year-old son was murdered 15 years ago; she is accused of revealing her son’s killer’s new identity online and conspiring to have him murdered. James Harkness plays family man Craig Myers, the victim of a vicious attack, after being identified as a child murderer. And John Hannah is DI Grover, a detective investigating

the assault.

Life After Lock-Up, Channel 4, 10pm
THIS three-part documentary series traces a year in the lives of ex-offenders as they are released from prison and attempt to reintegrate back into society. In this first episode, Chris leaves HMP Leeds after serving more than 32 years for murder, while convicted shoplifter Gemma returns to sleeping rough on the streets of Swindon. Azhar tries to win back the respect of his family after serving time for burglary, young offender Rhys is met at the prison gates by his long-suffering mother.
