PETER Pan author JM Barrie’s Scottish birthplace has an unusual new visitor attraction – a life-size sculpture of Tick Tock, the iconic tale’s famous crocodile.

It is part of a new garden being developed by the National Trust for Scotland (NTS) at the writer’s former home in Kirriemuir, Angus.

It will be filled with jungle plant life and pirate-themed installations when it is completed later this year.

The centrepiece is a scale model of Tick Tock, crafted from driftwood by international sculptor James Doran-Webb, which will even “tick”.

Chris Wardle, NHS garden manager for Aberdeen and Angus, has been leading the project. He said: “JM Barrie is one of Scotland’s most creative storytellers, it’s hugely important that the we continue to tell the tale behind the writer. We’re really excited for this project to blossom.”
