A WATCHDOG has found that George Galloway breached broadcasting rules by presenting allegations of Labour Party anti-Semitism as a concocted means to criticise Jeremy Corbyn.

The Scot’s talkRadio platform could now face sanctions, including the shortening or revoking of its licence, after Ofcom found Galloway in breach of impartiality rules.

Hosting phone-ins on the Labour anti-Semitism allegations, the former-MP was found to have framed the controversy as a vehicle to attack the leader of his former party.

Galloway was found in breach of the rules on two counts.

A spokesman for Ofcom said the programmes failed to give due weight to a sufficiently wide range of views on claims of anti-Semitism within Labour. Sanctions on talkRadio could include a fine of up to £250,000.

A spokesman said: “You expect robust opinions from George Galloway, but we accept that on this occasion he crossed the line.”
