FORMER soldier Ed Stafford continues his first-hand view of the UK’s homelessness crisis by spending two months living on the streets of three major cities. This week he travels to London, where more than 1000 rough sleepers bed down every night. He bases himself on The Strand in the West End, where he explores what draws so many homeless people to the capital. He observes a world in which skilful beggars make extraordinary sums of money – and also meets some fake beggars who actually have homes.

Tonight’s first episode follows three separate stories, the first of which belongs to Blanca, a transgender woman who is secretly HIV-positive and breaks away from her overbearing house mother, Elektra, to set up her own house: the House of Evangelista.

MOST people probably think nothing of buying or banking online. But what happens when people’s private information falls into the wrong hands? This documentary has exclusive access to a specialist police unit who go after the gangs responsible for fraud, Britain’s fastest growing crime.

Stabbed: Britain’s Knife Crime Crisis, BBC1, 9pm

KNIFE crime has been in the headlines again this month and recently there were 14 people slaughtered in 16 days across the UK. Duwayne Brooks, who saw his friend Stephen Lawrence attacked by a racist gang and stabbed to death 25 years ago, takes viewers on a personal journey into the current wave of knife crime and the impact it is having around the nation. He meets victims’ families and friends as they cope with the aftermath of a loved one being killed and the ensuing fight for justice. He also engages with some of the perpetrators to understand what is making more and more young people turn to knives. Duwayne also revisits his own past, and faces up to the trauma that has come to define him.
