AT last, some sanity from the “Mother of all Parliaments” with Speaker John Bercow ruling out another vote on the Mother of all Procrastinations’ Brexit deal.

As columnist Iain Macwhirter alluded to on Sunday, another vote on her deal without a substantial change would contravene one of the basic rules of parliamentary procedure, but where to from here?

If there is a prorogation of parliament, that would necessitate the Queen’s involvement and I doubt if the House of Windsor would countenance any part in this ongoing farce. This may be the best opportunity for a People’s Vote, but bet your boots that Mrs May will find some other loophole to prolong her worthless career and clock up a few more air miles.

NEVER having a written constitution, the English parliament in Westminster has been able to make up rules then break those rules to suit at any time in its hundreds of years of history. The so-called mother of all Parliaments is the most undemocratic parliament in the Western world and probably the Eastern world. It is ensconced in so many ancient customs and practices that it easily forgets its ancient made-up rules, as discovered yesterday with Speaker John Bercow’s decision to prevent Theresa May from having a third vote for her deal unless substantive changes are made.
