NOEL treats an 11-month-old dog who has a severely dislocated hip which he suspects is the result of trauma experienced at the tender age of two months. Elsewhere, overweight ladradoodle Fletcher, who has a pre-existing heart condition, is brought into the veterinary practice all the way from Scotland after previous surgery to fix a bad ankle fracture has failed, and a tiny hedgehog needs treatment on its broken hind legs.

Kilimanjaro: The Bigger Red Nose Climb, BBC1, 9pm

IF Alexander Armstrong hoped to make folks laugh for Comic Relief, then he managed that at the end of last month. The sight of the Pointless star lying down with trapped wind while chatting to Ed Balls for The One Show ranks as one of the most unusual sights of this year’s fundraiser. And it’s obviously a far-from-Pointless exercise as those chaps, along with Dani Dyer and other celebrities, risk altitude sickness and other perils in the hope of taking the Comic Relief cash total to dizzying heights.

THE work of medical staff at Stoke’s Royal University Hospital. Geoff has been struck with excruciating head pain that left him semi-conscious and he is taken in for a scan in an attempt to quickly diagnose his condition. Stephen has just suffered a potentially lethal stroke and staff whisk him straight into theatre to undergo a cutting-edge operation to have a blood clot removed. Time is also critical for Alan, who is brought into accident and emergency after collapsing in the street.
