THE odds of Liam Fox being the next UK Government minister to resign have risen sharply.
It takes a lot to force a Tory minister out of their position, but Betway has now slashed the odds of the international trade secretary being next out from 50/1 to 8/1.
It follows a breakdown in talks between Theresa May and her ministers over whether the UK would be a member of the Customs Union after Brexit, and Amber Rudd's resignation as Home Secretary.
Boris Johnson, Chris Grayling and Sajid Javid remain the most likely to reisgn next, however, at 6/1.
Betway's Alan Alger said: “The departure of Amber Rudd could start something of a domino effect in cabinet.
"We’re keeping a very close eye on developments in and around Number 10 as well as monitoring the money being placed in our ‘Next Cabinet Minister to Resign’ market.
“Liam Fox has been the one for money this morning and we’ve had to cut our offering from 50/1 to just 8/1, with Theresa May seemingly at loggerheads over finding a consensus on the UK’s post-Brexit relationship with the customs union.”
The full odds are:
- Boris Johnson – 6/1
- Chris Grayling – 6/1
- Sajid Javid – 6/1
- Liam Fox – 8/1
- David Davis – 8/1
- Philip Hammond – 8/1
- Jeremy Hunt – 9/1
- Gavin Williamson – 10/1
- Theresa May – 10/1
- Andrea Leadsom – 12/1
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
