HIT show Outlander is due to begin its seventh season later this month. 

The historical, time-travel drama is based on the popular book series by American author Diana Gabaldon. 

It tells the story of Claire Randall (Caitríona Balfe), a nurse in the Second World War who is transported back in time to 18th century Scotland where she meets Highland warrior Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan).

When is Outlander season seven released? 

The season is due to be split into two parts, each containing eight episodes with the second instalment not due to arrive until 2024.

Season seven will air in the UK from June 16. 

Outlander has also been renewed for season 8 which will be the final chapter. A prequel series – Outlander: Blood of My Blood – has also been ordered and will revolve around Jamie Fraser’s parents. 

How can I watch Outlander season seven? 

Fans of Outlander in the UK will be able to view the show via streaming service Lionsgate+ which can be accessed either through Amazon or through its website HERE

It will be twice the length of season six in total, comprised of sixteen episodes. 

What will season seven be about?

The seventh season will focus on events feature in Gabaldon’s sixth and seventh books – A Breath of Snow and Ashes and An Echo in the Bone. 

Heughan and Balfe will return as the central characters as will Scottish actor Richard Rankin – who was recently announced as the new Inspector Rebus

What have the stars said about the show? 

In a clip posted on the Outlander Twitter account, Heughan promised that this season would be the “best yet”.

Rankin meanwhile said that it would be “action packed” while Balfe said it “felt incredible”.
