AN event organised by school pupils gave some Scottish shoppers the chance to take home Scotch Beef PGI burgers in exchange for a donation to charity.

The fundraiser was set up as part of a partnership between Bathgate Academy and Broxburn-based beef processor AK Stoddart.

The firm challenged teams of S2 students to produce a new Scotch Beef PGI burger to be part of their product range. The pupils conducted market research, developed the product, designed packaging and created a marketing campaign to promote the new product.

The winning team was Delizioso Burgers, made up by Millie McKee, Polina Derugina and Becky McLean. AK Stoddart produced their Italian inspired burger which included extra mature cheddar, Parmesan, pecorino cheese, mozzarella, basil, parsley and oregano, which raised more than £500 for Jak’s Den cancer charity in Livingston.
