HAS someone infiltrated the Scottish Tory social media account?
Ruth Davidson's team seem to have decided it was time they triedย to match Labour's most recent own-goal.
The Scottish Tories were responding on Twitter to news about Scotland's health inequalities. Those living in the poorest areas are twice as likely to die early or live with ill health as those in the wealthiest areas, research found.
The figures areย horrifying, but won't come as a surprise to most people outside of the Tory party.
The official account tweeted: "The fact that people living in the poorest areas are twice as likely to die early is completely scandalous and deeply concerning."

Now, who could be responsible for that? Who has been running the UK's welfare policies all this time? Who has imposed a brutal regime of austerity on the UK?
That would be ... the Tories. In government. They'll be having a stern word with their branch office about this one!
Thankfully, Twitter users were there to set them straight, with some excellent responses โ and they're worth keeping in mind when the Tories ever try to defend their absymal record in power.

Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. Weโve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who arenโt really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So thatโs why weโve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate โ and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about โ people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Letโs get that debate started!
Callum Baird, Editor of The National
