Rose is pushed to breaking point as old wounds are reopened, Ed gets jittery as Trudy gives him the cold shoulder, and Graves becomes increasingly suspicious that he’s hiding something. Sylvia reveals the peculiar ancestry of the Dean family, Hal identifies the source of the eerie music on the audiotapes, and Trudy remembers a crucial detail about the day Carys vanished.
Nigel Slater’s Middle East, BBC 2, 9pm
THE writer visits Iran, starting in its bustling capital Tehran, where despite the boom in fast food outlets the dishes of the past still have a place in the hearts and culture of the people. Slater is taken to lunch at his taxi driver’s house to sample a popular stew known as dizi, then ventures north to the shores of the Caspian Sea to meet those who once fished for the famous beluga caviar, but now have to find other livings since sturgeon stocks have declined. Slater explores the varied landscape, and harvests pomegranates and saffron, two items that epitomise Middle Eastern cuisine. Last in the series.

IN this instalment, Martin Riggs is reunited with childhood friends, but comes to realise they might be mixed up in the robbery-homicide case he and Murtaugh are investigating. Meanwhile, Murtaugh finds a joint stashed in his kitchen that he brings to Scorsese for testing in an effort to bust one of his children. Clayne Crawford and Damon Wayans star.
Bette Midler: By Her Friends, Channel 5, 10.30pm
THE latest episode in Channel 5’s occasional strand celebrating comedy’s greatest gals puts “the Divine Miss M”, Bette Midler, centre stage. With three Grammys, four Golden Globes, three Emmys and two Tonys to her name, hers is truly a success story. Here, celebrity friends and fans join together in celebrating her career in entertainment, with James Dreyfus, Wayne Sleep, Christopher Biggins, Michelle Visage and Melissa Manchester among those paying homage.
