THE British Imperial Labour party has once again shown how craven it is towards British militarism and how supine and ineffective Saint Jeremy Corbyn is as an opposition leader. Instead of symbolically voting against military action in Syria, Labour abstained.

This was so it was not obvious that Corbyn leads a party still dominated by Blairite non-entities who would have gladly lined up with Theresa May to support the illegal bombing of Syria. This can be added to supporting the renewal of Trident, the backing of the one per cent pay cap in Wales, and voting down a parliamentary enquiry into Tony Blair’s Iraq War lies.

Theresa May’s statement is a repudiation of democracy. If MPs have no right to a say on war because they are not privy to state secrets, then neither is the electorate to be allowed to intrude on actions with the gravest consequences supposedly taken in their name.

May stated that her “secret intelligence” implicating the Syrian Government consisted of social media posts by the Islamist opposition. This is from a government that constantly denounces social media as the source of “fake news” that must be censored.
